6th-10th century AD. A silver ring comprising a broad ellipsoid-section hoop, discoid bezel with stylised facing peacock motif. Cf. Chadour, A.B. Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, item 487 for type. 10.86 grams, 21.78mm overall, 18.42mm internal diameter (approximate size British Q 1/2, USA 7 1/4, Europe 18.21, Japa 17) (3/4"). From the collection of a European gentleman living in South London; acquired 1970-1980. Very fine condition.
