Late 3rd-2nd millennium BC. A mixed group of five bronze seals including three accompanied by typed and signed notes by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: (R-449) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 68 x 68 x 20 mm. This is round, with the form of star with eight points, with flat face and flat back. on which is mounted a handle of inverted U-shape. The design is compartmented but not open-work. It shows a large dot surrounded by a circle in the middle, then an open area to the edges with small dots between each pair of points. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is incrustation on the surface, which could be removed, but the metal is in good condition beneath. It is a large and fine piece.'; (V-45) A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 59 x 59 x 18 mm. This is round, with scalloped outer rim, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a handle of inverted U-shape. The design, which is both compartmented and open-work, consists of a small inner circle joined to an outer band--plain save for the scallops--by 10 struts of the same shape: somewhat like small letter H's, with a small bend in the vertical stroke. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is in very good condition, the metal having been conserved.'; (U-403) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 40 x 42 x 23 mm. This is roughly square, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a large handle of inverted V-shape. The design is compartmented and achieved with lines. It consists of a central square divided into four smaller squares and a strut joins each corner of this square to the inner square continue and become something like a trident, the three ends joining the outer rim. The whole design is open-work. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is dented a little on the outer edges, and even broken at one point, but generally it is in good condition.'. 253 grams total, 40-68mm (1 1/2 - 2 1/2").
