Late 3rd-2nd millennium BC. A mixed group of ten bronze seals including seven accompanied by typed and signed notes by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: T-445 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 24 x 13 x 28 mm. This has a roughly crescent-shaped face, and a flat back on which is mounted a stalk handle with loop on the top. The face is compartmented, but it is not clear whether it is now complete, or has been damaged in antiquity. It is thus difficult to interpret the design. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. What is present is in good condition.'; (T-849) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 19 x 18 x 34 mm. This was originally round, with flat face and slightly convex back on which is mounted a tall stalk handle with ridges around it and an oval loop on the top. The design, done in raised lines, consists of two interlocking pairs of strokes, each with a curve in it, and some short stokes act as fillers. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. About two thirds of the rim are now missing, and the handle is worn down, but a fair amount remains and is in good condition.'; (T-229) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 15 x 15 x 24 mm.This has a round flat face, and a back which rises steeply to a stalk handle surmounted by a pierced circular top. The design is linear within an outer rim: two crescents based on the crescents filling the space left. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2100-1800 B.C. There is incrustation on the surface which could be removed and generally the piece is in good condition save for wear to the outer rim.' (T-429) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 22 x 21 x 20 mm. This has the shape of a trefoil, with flat, compartmented face, and flat back, on which is mounted a stalk handle with pierced top. The design consists of a small circle in the middle and the three lobes branching off from it. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is a small hole through on lobe and slight damage to the rim at one point, but generally this is in good condition.'; (R-224) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 16 x 15 x 29 mm.This has a round flat face, and a back which rises steeply to a stalk handle ,with pierced loop on top. The design, which is done in raised lines, consists of a crescent and a horizontal line with a near circle hanging from it.This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2000-1600 B.C. It is worn (some of the rim of the face is missing) but otherwise is in good condition.'; (T-514) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 17 x 16 x 23 mm. This has a roughly oval flat face and back that rises steeply to a pierced loop on top of a stalk handle. The design on the face is linear and consists of three different motifs based on the rim. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. The handle and the rim are worn, but otherwise it is in very good condition.'; (U-304) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 13 x 13 x 27 mm. This has a round, flat, compartmented face, and a convex back surmounted by a tall stalk handle ending in a pierced loop. The design consists of a central circle joined to the outer rim by three struts. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2100-1800 B.C. It is covered with incrustation, which could be removed, and otherwise it appears to be in good condition.' 93 grams total, 20-35.5mm (1 - 1 1/2"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s. [10] Fine condition.
