Vintage ballpoint signatures of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr on an off-white 7.75 x 9 'Master Reel Control File' sheet from Capitol Records. The edges of the sheet are taped to a same-size Capitol Records recording document. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light creasing, intersecting folds, a light 'kiss' mark touching McCartney's signature, and a single tack hole to the top edge.Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beatles expert Perry Cox, who notes that the signatures were obtained “during the time of the Beatles Hollywood Bowl concert of August 1965.” The letter also features a provenance story from the daughter of the original recipient, which reads, in part: “My old neighbor Bill Clark, who hung out with my dad in those days…said he was 17 when he helped my dad set up for a concert at the Hollywood Bowl at the end of August, 1965. Dad was a recording engineer for Capitol Records and as he often did, he brought Bill along to help him that day…Bill said every job Capitol did required a worksheet which came on a gummed tablet. He said he wasn’t there when the autographs were written but my dad showed him the worksheet a few days later—all four Beatles had signed their names on one of those worksheets. That’s when he told Bill all the Capitol guys there that night got one.” In regard to the ‘kiss’ mark, Cox confirms that the ‘kiss’ is from the recipient’s daughter.Format: Signatures
