Four 925 sterling silver ladles, including a) ladle by London silversmiths, William Eley & William Fearn, circa 1799; b) Berry ladle with pierced bowl by London silversmiths, Josiah Williams & Co (George Maudsley Jackson & David Landsborough Fullerton), circa 1907; c) ladle by Edinburgh silversmiths, Alexander Edmonstoun III, impressed Morton, circa 1808-1824, and d) sterling ladle with illegible markings. Total weight: 122 g (3.9 troy oz). Dimensions are: a) - 7 inches long; b) 4 3/4 inches long; c) 6 1/4 inches long; d) 4 1/2 inches long. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Free of breaks, dents, or repairs. Unmarked ladle has a slight bend in handle. Provenance: These items are part of the Slade family holdings of paintings, sterling silver and Chinese porcelain (see Oakridge Auction Gallery's March 14th auction, lots. 149 to lot. 155, which was a Chinese blanc de chine Dehua figurine of a robed Bodhidharma or Damo which sold for $416,000USD). The collection was assembled by several members of the family and then by descent to the present owner. The collection was begun by Henry Adolphus Warre Slade (1869 - 1936). He was a British businessman, member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (1908/09) and the Director of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation between 1900 and 1902. The collection was added to by his sons, Royal Navy Commander Gerald Gordon Slade, who fought in both World Wars, and his brother Maurice Gordon Slade, pictured with his mother Beatrice Slade (photo not included).
