Ca.400 AD. A lovely Roman cup formed from pale yellow-green glass. The vessel is defined by its flat bottom and inverted bell-shaped body, an upturned rim, and a fire-polished lip. Four groups of cobalt-blue glass appliques alternate around the body between single large dots and trios of smaller dots. Lovely rainbow-hued iridescence covers most of one side. Intact, H:96mm/D:103mm(3.77in, 4.05in) ; 90gr; Provenance: Private Kent collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK art market.
