A bronze discoid seal matrix with flange handle to the reverse, some traces of silvering to the surface; rectangular vertical panel flanked by lancet arcading, facing image of God the Father supporting Corpus Christi with flanking angels, with dove (Holy Spirit) above completing the trinity; below, a heater shield with chevron and charges between three anchors(?) supported by winged angels; circular band with beaded rims, blackletter legend 'S:RoladJohis epi: brethenen' ie. 'S[igillum] Rola[n]d Joh[an]is ep[iscop]i brechenen[sis]', the 'Seal of Roland Johns Bishop of Brechin'. 90 grams, 51mm (2"). Found Walmer, Kernt, UK.
