this small jade carving of a bird is one of the earliest examples of Chinese jade sculpture. It is rather simple in design with it’s shape almost that of a heart. It’s wings are indicted by two flat converging ovals with it’s tail sitting between the two as a stout rectangle. It has to holes carved into it’s surface which either indicate it’s beak or eyes. It’s underside is slightly curved to indicate where the stomach resides. There are two garlic shaped fluted balls in the bottom center of it’s underside which represent it’s talons. D: 2.5 x 0.5 in. ( 6.3 x 1.25 cm) Condition: Appears to be in good condition with expected inclusion and fissures
