TLS, one page, 6.75 x 9, The Vice-President's Chamber letterhead, May 17, 1921. Letter to Robert M. Washburn, a former senator from Massachusetts, in full: "Having spent some time in Washington yourself, you know what agreeable people there are here, but I have to confess that I think a great deal about my old friends in Massachusetts. I see several of them here every week or so. They have told me they thought you were not looking very well. I trust this is not so, and that you are feeling first rate. I wish you to know how much I have appreciated your kind consideration extended to me on so many occasions. I saw your brother Charles when he was in town. I trust that you will give my regards to Mrs. Washburn and my remembrance to your Mother." In fine condition. Washburn's subpar health seemed to be a recurring issue; he resigned early into his only term in the Senate due to ill health in 1916.Format: TLS
