A stamp seal matrix comprising a green jasper disc with frieze of profile horned animals and roundels, central standard with addorsed animal heads; set into a later silver-gilt domed cup with filigree bands and S-curved motifs, four piriform garnet cabochons in cells above nine smaller elliptical cabochons (one absent); tubular shank with ancient bronze handle formed as a couchant lioness; accompanied by a museum quality seal impression. 26 grams, 59mm (2 1/4"). Property of a North London lady; gifted from her father's collection; formerly with a Mayfair gallery, London, UK; previously acquired in the 1980s.
