A BISCUIT FIGURE OF GUANDI, MING China, 16th-17th century. The finely modelled warlord is seated in full armor on a throne, wearing a helmet, covered with a green, turquoise, brown and aubergine glaze. The face, hands and feet left unglazed. Wooden base. (2) Condition: Minute chips to foot and backside of helmet, glaze flakes and firing flaws, old wear. Provenance: Eymery & Cie., Rue St-Honore, Paris. A private collection, by repute acquired from the above. Old paper label to wooden base, inscribed "Ming 1368-1644". Weight: 900.2 g (not including base). Dimensions: Height 23.5 cm (not including base).
