Southeast Asian wood and gilt doors or shutters: pair of Southeast Asian carved and partially gilded wooden doors or shutters, displayed in a wooden frame. The overlapping of the two doors has a ledge ornamented with brass flowers that echo the carving in the rim of the doors. Metal hinges on the outsides of each door allow for them to be hung in their frame. Dimensions are: without frame - 20 3/4 in (52.7 cm) tall X 7 in (17.8 cm) wide; frame measures 23 1/2 in (59.7 cm) tall X 17 3/4 in (45.1 cm) wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Surface wear to wood; pattern on top and bottom edges of overlapping door is fairly worn down, chipped at inside corners. Rust on hinges. Provenance: From a Washington, DC collection.
