This lot has three cases Civil War era cases with baby photos inside. The first is an attractive leather case with a daguerreotype of a post-mortem baby. The daguerreotype is a ninth plate, and the case has a velvet lining, hook latch, and floral motif repeated on front and back. The leather has wonderful tooling, and the case was probably made in the mid 1850’s. It measures 2 7/8 x 2 9/16 in wide and is in sweet condition. The next two are wooden cases with a daguerreotype and tintype of babies. Both images are ninth plates. The tintype case has an amber velvet lining, a geometric four-leaf clover motif on front and back, and a hook latch. The case has a split spine and light wear. The daguerreotype case is missing the back cover and has modest wear to the case. Both cases were probably made in the 1850’s and measure about 2 7/8 x 2 5/8 in. wide.
