This lot consists of three wooden cases and photos from the Civil War era. The first case has an ambrotype of a young boy in a chair. The ambrotype is a ninth plate, the case has elaborate scrollwork repeated on front and back, velvet lining, and a hook latch. The case was probably made in the mid 1850’s and measures 2 7/8 x 2 3/8 in. wide. The second case shows the tintype of a gentleman. The tintype is a ninth plate and has wear on the portrait, and the case has fancy scrollwork repeated on front and back, an amber velvet lining, and a hook latch. The case has modest wear and was probably made in the mid 1850's, and measures 2 7/8 x 2 9/16 in. wide. The third case features an ambrotype of a girl wearing a shawl, bonnet, and a period dress. The ambrotype is a quarter plate, and the case has floral scrollwork repeated on front and back and two hook latches. The case also has a split spine and velvet lining with light wear. The case was probably made in the mid 1850’s and measures 4 11/16 x 3 3/4 in. wide.
