PROVENANCE: From Private collections of Mr. Peter Lyon (1938-2016), After graduation in 1959 he joined the military and was trained as a fighter pilot for the Marine corp. Retiring from the military his next career was as a commercial pilot for Pan American and United Airlines flying 747 aircraft in the pacific and orient. During his layovers he searched for fine porcelains which he proudly added to his private collection. A portion of his collection is being sold at auction to benefit his charitable interests. Dimensions: 10-1/4" H x 8-1/2" Dia. Stand: 1-1/2" H Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong famille Jaune monochrome vase. The porcelain potted in shape vase, thick and tall, globular oval lower body, tapered gracefully toward straight tall cylindrical neck with numerous rings, slight flaring mouth rim, raised on a short small round foot base with slight concave. Famille Jaune meaning the "yellow family". This is a variant of the famille verte enamel palette in which the ground is covered with yellow enamel. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in masterfully covered in an even coat of a egg yellow glaze which terminates at the base to reveal the pure white under glaze. The yellow glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human skin. Elegantly and smooth presented upon a carved zitan hardwood stand with archaic ruyi pattern. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy.
