Dimensions: 10" H x 6-1/4" Dia. Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Kangxi blue & white porcelain lamp. Having tall spherical body, with watermelon shaped head, supported upon spherical tall shaft, everted from compressed prominent base, and raised on reverse pot with deep concave. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in cobalt blue underglazed, depicted of salubrious garden medallion among scrolling ruyi and tendril, enclosed with thrashing wavy lishui water. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze grayish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. Mark on under base, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, KangXi Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty. See More
