A splendid Louis XVI marble vase, Paris, circa 1800 Free-standing. Meticulously chiselled, Veronese marble with solid, fire-gilt bronze mountings, these finely chased. Set on a square plinth of fire-gilt bronze with a decorative palmette frieze, the ovoid, ribbed body of the vase flanked by large handles with stylised ears of corn, these also in fire-gilt bronze. Continuous bronze ring embellished with foliage. At the top, the foil-curved lid decorated with vine leaves, also wrought in fire-gilt bronze. Height 64 cm. Provenance: From a private Dutch collection. Condition: I - II Condition Report: In excellent condition. Showing slight traces of age and use. Minor knocks in the marble. Auf quadratischer Plinthe in feuervergoldeter Bronze mit Palmettenzierfries, der ovoide, gerippte Vasenkörper flankiert von mächtigen Henkeln mit stilisiertem Ährendekor, diese ebenfalls in feuervergoldeter Bronze. Umlaufender Bronzering mit Blattdekor. Abschließender, passiger Deckel mit Weinlaubdekor wiederum in feuervergoldeter Bronze gearbeitet. Höhe 64 cm.
