The reins and swords attached separately. A depiction of two famous 15th century Italian commanders, modelled after the well-known Renaissance works, the epitaph of Erasmo da Narni, referred to as Gattamelata (1370 - 1443) in Padua, created by Donatello in 1447, and the equestrian statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni (1400 - 1475), which was not finished until 1494, after the death of the sculptor Andrea del Verrocchio of Venice. Mounted on stepped plinths of white-veined black marble. Height of each approx. 62 cm. Condition: I - II Condition Report: In excellent, almost mint condition. The broken loop on the left side of Gattamelata's reins has been repaired with wire. The edges of the plinths with minor knocks here and there.
