A moulded, hollow-formed figure of Priapus standing; left hand lifting draped garments to reveal his nude body, heavily bearded, hole on the crown where a modius sat; hole at the groin where a separate model penis would have been inserted; integral pierced lug at the rear. 226 grams, 17.5cm (7"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired in the 1970s. In Greek mythology, Priapus was a minor rustic god. [No Reserve]
