Fell 1516 AD. A Nantan nickel iron meteorite (1AB"). 36.2 grams, 45mm (1 3/4"). From an old Lincolnshire collection; from Guangzi Region, China. The meteorite has been assessed being about one billion years old and the pieces are generally about 92% iron and 6% nickel with some ten other minerals present, including kamacite, taenite, plessite, Scheribersite, triolite and graphite; the main part exploded, as recorded in Chinese texts, scattering fragments in the Lihu and Yaozhai town areas.
