A Japanese Satsuma ware dish, Meiji period (1868-1912), of circular form, painted with a cockerel and hen with chicks under a blossoming tree by a fence, enclosed by a scroll border with diapered panels, signed Setsuzan in gilt reserved on an ingot-shaped black ground, 22.8cm diameter Condition report: Plate probably European. Marks of rust plate hangers and some glaze flakes to the back.
