Dimensions: 2-1/2" H x 13-1/2" Dia. Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, reversed blue famille jaune dragon plate. Potted in shallow vessel form, thick and large, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, with straight open lip, raised with round shallow draft, slight concave base. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in deep blue under glazed base color which contrast against the famille jaune color, depicted of snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a yellow color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons.The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. Mark on base, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine rings, Made in The Years of Kangxi Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
