A pair of gold earrings with wire hooks, each with a cell with petal detail to the outer edge, set with an agate cameo bust carved in the half round, one depicting Medusa with wings to her brow and head slightly turned, the other with a youthful female face; pendant drop with garnet bead below. See Manning, W.H., Catalogue of the Romano-British Iron Tools, Fittings and Weapons in the British Museum, London, 1985, item 2656, for type.4.87 grams total, 29-31mm (1 - 1 1/4"). From the collection of a Japanese gentleman, deceased (1970-2010); collected in the 1990s.[2]
