A very large and superbly polished veined greenstone axe of lentoid section, slightly convex cutting edge and almost parallel rounded sides tapering to the rounded butt; with a custom-made display stand. Axes of this size, especially when made from 'exotic' stone types, were often made for ceremonial rather than practical use; it has been suggested that such purposes as 'bride price' or as a symbol of rank or status are possible uses.
