A carved limestone capital with cylindrical base with circumferential foliate frieze; four acanthus leaves would have originally sprung from collar; grotesque faces between, including a human head and a lion's head; some fine detailing to the various design elements. 29.6 kg, 33cm (13"). Ex central London gallery; accompanied by a scholarly note TL5335 by Dr Ronald Bonewitz; this lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no. 10329-166532.
