A gold cell mount with granulation to the sidewall, pierced for use as a bead; set in an earlier Old Babylonian carnelian or glass cabochon with intaglio combat scene between a robed male with a knife and a rearing lion. 3.25 grams, 20mm (3/4"). Property of a North London lady; gifted from her father's collection; formerly with a Mayfair gallery, London, UK; previously acquired in the 1980s.
