A bronze statuette modelled semi-nude in a riding position, legs spread, arms held away from the body to manoeuvre reins or wield weapons; wearing a mantle and quiver, hair dressed and surmounted by a headdress with stepped sides and discoid finial; details to face, attire and accoutrements; mounted on a custom-made stand. Cf. Ogneneove-Marinova, L., Statuettes en bronze du musee national archeologique a Sofia, 1975, no. 17 ff, for similar items.162 grams total, 89mm including stand (3 1/2"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired on the London art market in the 2000s. This statuette would originally have been riding a galloping horse and held a phiale.
