A ceramic protome formed as a female bust with flared diadem headdress, broad face and band of curls above the brow, small ears, domed eyes and prominent aquiline nose, small mouth with pursed lips; hollow to the reverse; Roman copy of a Greek original; modern mounting rod to the reverse. 208 grams, 11.5cm (4 1/2"). Property of a Dutch private collector; previously in the collection of Dr Bottger, acquired in the 1960s.
