Rev: CERERI AVG with Ceres seated left, holding corn ears and torch; branch in exergue. RIC 90 (variety); RSC 22; Sear 10627.3.67 grams. ("). From the private collection of a retired Suffolk gentleman. Known as 'Chrysogone', or 'begotten of gold', Salonina was of Greek origin and a woman of culture and learning, who was part of the circle of the famous philosopher Plotinus, in Rome. Salonina probably witnessed her husband's murder in Milan in 268 AD, but her subsequent fate is shrouded in mystery. [No Reserve]
