A Syrian shamshir with silver inlays, Ottoman period, 19th century Heavy smooth blade of beautiful wootz Damascus steel with iron quillons decorated with flowers inlaid in silver. Hilt with silver wire wrap and two horn grip scales inlaid with brass and pewter, the grip strap engraved with flowers and the pommel cap both made of silver. On the leather-covered wooden scabbard stitched with wire two suspension bars and fittings of iron with ornamental silver inlays. Blade minimally pitted on the reverse of the base. Length 99.5 cm.Condition: II
