A Syrian shamshir with silver and gold inlays, Ottoman period, 19th century Unusually heavy and long single-edged blade of wootz Damascus steel, the base with gold inlays on both sides. On the obverse two gold-inlaid cartouches (tr.) "Oh you, who fulfill all wishes" and (tr.) "Work of Kalb Ali", the reverse decorated with lavish ornaments. Quillons and grip strap of iron with silver inlays and two riveted rhinoceros horn grip scales. Leather-covered wooden scabbard with iron fittings inlaid in silver with flowers and geometrical patterns. Length 103 cm. Attention - shipping to non-EU countries subject to CITES.Condition: II
