Translation provided by Youdao
13th-14th century AD. An iron axehead with sturdy neck and strongly curved triangular blade; socket with lateral flanges and long rectangular extension to the rear. See Nicolle, D., Arms and Armour of the Crusading Era, 1050-1350 AD, volume I, London, 1999, fig.854A, for the type. 282 grams, 13.5cm (5 1/4"). Ex California, USA, collection formed since the late 1960s; acquired on the European art market before the late 1990s. This type of axe finds parallels in the Northern European Danish axes from an earlier period, although the influence from Poland and Baltic areas is evident in the shape of the blade.
