Anglo-Indian school; 18th century. Carved and polychromed wood. There are flaws in the carving. They have repainting. Measurements: 17 x 15 x 7 cm (x2). Pair of sculptures made in wood, worked in rounded form, each one of them representing a rider on an animal with feline features. The figures are depicted as horsemen, judging by their appearance and postures in movement. From their appearance, the figures may represent experienced horsemen or even trainers. The posture of both riders is striking, as they twist their bodies to one side and hold their arms outstretched in an exhibitionist manner. The contrast between the hieratic posture of the two lions, who stand rigid without any anecdotal movement, is striking. In the case of the horsemen, on the other hand, it can be seen that, due to the posture described above, the sculptural ensemble acquires a greater level of dynamism and great expressiveness. These characteristics can be seen not only in the volumes, but also in the artist's e of colour.Dimensions: 17 x 15 x 7 cm (x2).
