1st century B.C.-1st century A.D. A Celtic or early Roman terret ring with lentoid-section body, two collars and constricted strap bar. Cf. Lewis 2015, p.87. The Portable Antiquities Scheme, record id.SF-3BA219, for this item. 29.4 grams, 42 mm (1 1/2 in.) Found with the use of a metal detector near Lavenham, Suffolk, UK, on 8 January 2018. Property of a Suffolk, UK, collector. Apanied by a copy of the Portable Antiquities Scheme report no.SF-3BA219. Terret rings were used as rein guides on chariots or carts during the Later Iron Age and Early Roman periods. They were set in a line along the yoke and usually five terrets were used per chariot.
