9th-11th century A.D. A Scandinavian or Finno-Ugrian hand-forged iron axehead with triangular-section blade widening to a broad curved edge, socket with flanges to the rear. Cf. Property of a Sussex, UK, teacher. The moremonly used weapons of the Finno-Ugrian people were axes,monly found in all Finnic areas, as well as spears. Among Baltic-Finnic people, especially in Finland and Karelia, knives called 'puukko' weremon, used inbination with axes, spears, flat bows and long bows. [No Reserve]
