A RARE CANTON ENAMEL CLOCK FACE, QING DYNASTY, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY 清 十八 / 十九世紀 畫琺琅中錶盤一件 Of rectangular form with domed upper section, enamelled with a circular clock face below a crescent-shaped panel enclosing a basket of flowers, all reserved on an apple-green ground with flowers in the spandrels Height: 22.5cm Length: 15cm A similar clock face was sold at Sotheby’s New York, Important Chinese Export Porcelain and Chinese Works of Art from The Collection Of The Late Mildred R. And Rafi Y. Mottahedeh, 19th October 2000, lot 420, illustrated and discussed by D. Howard & J. Ayers, China for the West, Vol. II, p. 638-9, no. 667. Condition Report The bottom right spandrel of the clock face (2.5 x 3cm) has been broken off and re-attached with associated restoration to the enamels, with further smaller areas of enamel restoration in the top right spandrel and bottom left spandrel, and light overall crazing to the enamels and minor enamel flakes.
