Description An oil on board larder painting in the manner of game piece paintings by Benjamin Blake (English, c. 1790 - c.1830) depicting a wooden tabletop with dead birds, including a prominent pheasant, two other birds, a basket containing straw and a letter, two earthenware jars, and a glass bottle. A string of onions hangs before a darkened corridor at right. Unsigned. Old auction labels affixed en verso, along with Illegible pencil inscriptions to upper and lower back of frame, the latter of which begins with the word "Green." Housed in an ornate giltwood frame with husk, fleur di lis and bead course moldings. Sight: 8 1/2" W x 6 1/2" H. Frame: 15 1/4" W x 13 1/4" H. European, early 20th century.品相报告: Condition Report Good overall condition with 6 1/2" scratch line running diagonally from hanging jar to tabletop. Faint craquelure throughout. Some gilt has rubbed off onto the edge of the board to left of the glass bottle. Frame has some small areas of loss and evidence of previous repair.
