Nahum Tschacbasov (American-Russian, 1899-1994) Cubo-Surrealist linocut depicting the hermaphroditic prophet of Apollo, Tiresias, signed and dated "'37" lower right, housed under glass in an ebonized and gilt wood frame. Image: 6.5" H x 4.5" W; frame: 13.75" H x 11.5" W. Note: Nahum Tschacbasov and Irene Zevon were residents of New York City's famed Chelsea Hotel. Tschacbasov was a member of the Expressionist Art group "The Ten" alongside mark Rothko. He taught at the Art Students League and married Zevon, a former student of his. All works by both artists in this sale were acquired from the estate of Tschacbasov's son.
