艾迪．馬丁內斯手中總是拿著一支麥克筆，口袋裡通常帶著一本小本子，隨時隨地捕捉靈感出沒的瞬間。身邊沒有紙張也好，他捎來一張餐巾仍可畫得高興，甚至不自覺地臨空揮筆。他是自學成才的美國藝術家。相較於某些藝術家創作依從嚴謹準則，馬丁內斯更喜歡率性而行，「有些人心目中有個想法，畫多少筆、多少層才算完成，但我不是這樣。我完全憑感覺和直覺，不作任何公式的事。」
