Description

沈耀初，福建詔安人，自號「自渡人」。幼喜繪事，曾受族內老畫家沈鏡湖先生指導。後入汕頭藝專攻讀，1948年冬，與友人來台寫生，後因戰事而留台以從事教育，課餘索居獨處，精研書畫古籍、名家真跡。沈耀初融合吳昌碩、齊白石、任伯年的筆墨，以金石筆法入畫，擅長山石與寫意花鳥。主張一切筆墨寧大勿小、寧拙勿巧、寧重勿輕、寧厚勿薄，作者的畫作意境清新脫俗並古樸渾厚，深具中國文人畫以及禪道精神。
