By Shotei, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th centuryDecorated in enamels and gilt, the body with a formal repeated design of tall stalks of chrysanthemums growing from behind a brushwood fence reserved on a cream ground, the shoulder with a wide band of stylised and tasselled chrysanthemum heads; the neck encircled with shippo-hanabishi (diamond-linked-jewels); signed on the base Shotei ga (painted by Shotei) with a seal Shotei. 46.5cm (18¼in) high.
