By Okamoto Ryozan, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th centuryDecorated in enamels and gilt with a continuous design of three birds, two exotic birds in a garden foraging for food among flowering stalks of chrysanthemums, rose mallows and Chinese bellflowers and a solitary egret in the distance wading in water, the cover with two women and a young girl on the verandah of a wealthy residence; signed in gilt on the base with a seal Ryozan. 8.3cm (3¼in) high. (2).
