|The PGA celebrated its Centenary in 2001 and in recognition of its wonderful Ryder Cup history it presented all living Ryder Cup European players with their own Ryder Cup trophy. This fine gesture was seen to be even more significant when the terrorist events in the United States on September 11 2001 forced the postponement of the 34th Ryder Cup Matches. Sergio Garcia Fernández was born in January 1980. Garcia has won 31 international tournaments as a professional, most notably the 2008 Players Championship and the 2017 Masters Tournament.Garcia first played in the 1999 Ryder Cup Match when he was the youngest ever European at 19 years 8 months and 15 days. The 1999 Ryder Cup played at The Country Club, Brookline saw the partnership of Garcia and Jesper Parnevik earning 3½ points out of 4. With the 2018 Ryder Cup fast approaching in late September Sergio Garcia has played in 45 Matches. He has represented Europe in 1999, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2014, and 2016 with 18 Wins, 7 Halves and 20 losses. At its Sporting Sale in Edinburgh in November 2014 Bonhams sold Harry Bannerman's 2001 Ryder Cup replica trophy for £11,500.
