A SMALL IVORY NETSUKE OF SEIOBOIvory netsuke. Japan, 19th centuryAn extraordinarily fine work showing Seiobo seated on a chair, holding her famous attribute, the longevity peach, in one of her hands. Seiobo is known as Xiwangmu 西 王 母, the Royal Mother of the West in China. Her palace is located in the Kunlun mountains, where every 3000 years these precious peaches grow in her gardens. Very finely carved facial expressions, decorated garment, chignon, a fan in her hand. Cord channel through the chair.
