To the inner circle a maker's mark consisting of the character Li?. Ming dynasty. To the reverse the collector's number 87, a description of the mirror and various bibliographical references in black ink.Other Ming dynasty workshops that imitated and reproduced mirrors of the Han and Tang dynasties were for example Gong Xiaoshan in Yizhen (see Ju-hsi Chou, Circles of Reflection. The Carter Collection of Chinese Bronze Mirrors, The Cleveland Museum of Art 2000, no. 91) or the Ma family (see a mirror in the style of the Han dynasty in a German private collection, and in the National Museum of History in Taipei).
