THE PARADISE OF PADMASAMBHAVA - ZAMDOKPALRI, Tibet, 18th ct. Tempera on cotton, original mounting. This painting depicts the paradise of Padmasambhava. In the lower section of a three-tiered palace, Padmasambhava appears in a tantric form, shown here in loving union with his wisdom partner, surrounded by further emanations. Five Thatagatas in yab-yum are located in the central section of the temple palace, above them with Buddha Amitabha. Above the palace, several Buddhas of the Nyingma tradition can be seen as well as tantric deities left and right of the palace. - Darkened, original mounting damaged
