Brown County Artist Ida Gordon (Indiana, 1903 - 1983) Painting of a Spring wooded landscape with a house in the background. Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. Sight size: 29 x 23 in. Overall Size: 35.5 x 29.5 in. Gordon studied at Indiana University and the Paris American Arts Academy. Her teachers included Marie Goth, George Jo Mess, Stanley Turnball, Marilyn Bendell, Homer Davisson, Leonard Richmond in England and Legare in Paris, France. She exhibited at the Brown County Art Gallery where she did a solo exhibition, the Indiana State Fair, Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Gallery of Art in New York, the Sherman Hotel Gallery in Chicago, the Northern Indiana Artists Salon and regularly at the Hoosier Salon during the period 1953-1977. She won prizes at the Hoosier Salon in 1966 for best still life in oil titled Two Apples on a Platter and in 1969 for flowers in oil titled Potted Plants. In 1963 she received a prize for her work from the Herron Art Institute of Indianapolis, and he work was recognized by the Paris Award
