He was a graduate of the Massachusetts School of Art where he studied under Vesper George and Ernest Major. He has also studied at the Worcester Art Museum under Philip Hale, and J. Felton Brown of the Institute of Technology. He taught at the New School of Design and the Vesper George School of Art and also gave private lessons in illustration.
