Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Captivating Ming Dynasty porcelain charger having a shallow body, with a slightly flared lip and shallow draft. Festooned with a dynamic dragon soaring amidst flames and vapors, with face and upper right appendage outstretched toward the heavens. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity. Hand-painted ornamentations are rendered in Ming Xuande blue hue which contrasts against the white glaze. The under base remains unglazed, revealing the pale-creme ground with graying firing marks. Mark on interior rim, a horizontal six blue underglazed script -KaiShu- characters, XuanDe Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.
