A Rare flora-form Ming Xuande blue brush washer. Several calligraphic characters dwell at the shallow cavetto brush washer where beautiful patterns spiral outward toward the rim. The Chinese cobalt-blue porcelain charger having a shallow body, with a slightly flared lip and shallow draft. Hand-painted ornamentations are rendered in cobalt blue hue which contrasts against the white glaze. Shallow basin circumscribed with a curvaceous wall of porcelain. The artistry is a combination of underglaze cobalt blue outlines added on top of the fired glaze, within the outlines. This glazing technique was invented during the Ming, Xuande period but are mostly related to the Ming, Chenghua rule from (1465-87). The blue elements of the design were painted under the glaze. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman. Mark on central cavetto, six blue underglazed script -KaiShu- characters, enclosed by double fine blue rings, XuanDe Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.
